Finally I made it !!!!!!

Yeah...As the title suggests, finally I have made it to the bloggers world. Been wanting to do this for some time now, however never got around to it. Considering that my hubby had to cretae a FB profile for me to join FB, this is not too bad I guess ! Better late than never :)

Being able to share your experiences with family and friends is good. Many a time, you can put down your thoughts which hitherto goes unsaid. There were times when while growing up I wanted to be an author or a journalist. Being an avid reader, I thought that it was easy to be one :) Today am happy to see that at least my daughter's got a few articles published.

I am more of a paper and pen person than a 'typing' one. I rather prefer to call than 'chat' online. Yes, I belong to a generation which actually wrote letters (not E-mail ) and posted (not online ...in post boxes) greetings cards to near and dear ones. But then, today the situation is such, we have to take the kids one day to the post office just to show them the post boxes and the post man !!!!

It's not easy being an intsant, online person. But then here I am willing to give it a go. Perhaps the idea is to  leave behind a part of yourself for posterity through your blogs.  Keep watching this space for more to come. As I am writing this India is on the brink of winning a gold medal. Will Sushil get us that elusive gold ? Hope so, believe so ..................

October - My Favorite Time Of The Year !!!!!

26 th Oct 2011, exactly 5 years ago on this day, it was Diwali and life put me face to face with my biggest ever Diwali dhamaka in the form of a breast cancer diagnosis. One mastectomy and 6 chemo sessions later here I am 5 years and still counting. Frankly despite awareness, society still does not look at cancer differently especially here in India. If you declare that you have cancer, then it is like people around you are counting the days and you have all their sympathies. It appears that everybody has lost someone or the other in the fight against cancer. So the general belief still is that survival rates in cancer are pretty less and dismal whereas the truth is that each and every case is totally different and survival is dependent on many factors, the most important one being that of a positive outlook, a ‘I will not give in, come what may’ attitude and a general belief in self and the treatment one undergoes. Forever NIITian

There is always a next time, they say, but I am not sure about it. So, I was one of those who felt bad having missed out on the ReUNIITe 1.0. For one reason or the other, it was looking like I might have to miss this one too, however, I kept telling myself that this time, I am gonna make it happen. The constant chatter kind of helped and I confirmed to Hari about attending the event.
